Jesmond Dene is a wonderful, historic park in the heart of suburban Newcastle. The Dene is formed from the Ouseburn’s steep-sided, wooded valley which is a peaceful haven for residents, visitors and wildlife alike. Located between Jesmond, Heaton and South Gosforth, the dene is easily accessible via all forms of transport.
Pets’ Corner is a popular, family-friendly visitor attraction. You’ll find animals of all shapes and sizes, including pigs, goats and sheep alongside rabbits and colorful birds, including peacocks. It re-opened in February 2011 after a £6m regeneration programme which included a brand new visitor centre, upgraded Pets Corner and a fantastic play area for under 8s.
The Friends of Jesmond Dene is a volunteer-run charity pledged to improve, preserve and promote the environment in and around Jesmond Dene for the benefit of residents, wildlife and visitors. Find out more here
